Urban development concept in the city of Fuzhou

For the South Chinese seaport Fuzhou an urban development concept for the urban extension of the city Fuzhou had to be developed. The planning area lies between today's city centre and the river delta enclosing not only a beautiful water island zone, but also an old village with an ancient temple and several traditional theatres.
The planning program includes an entertainment complex like the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, a new CBD district with trade fair as large as the trade fair in Stuttgart, residentials areas and the preliminary design of the administrative centre of the regional government.
Pedestrian zones are spatious and generous to the public green spaces; specific parts of the pedestrian pathway are covered with glass canopies that connect individual programs.
Two different concepts at two different locations within the city of Fuzhou were analysed, resulting of two different alternatives.
